Question about copyright of the photographs of the old painting of masterpiece ?

The origional artist has all the copyrights. Same with taking a picture. Who ever snaps the shot is the sole owner of the picture. Photographers own the photos they shoot and sell it back to people. Same with artists, they own their masterpiece and you would have to get permission from them to copy. Creative Commons would be a great source.
