Abscess after Hysterectomy?

I am also a woman that had a LAVH(ovaries still intact)due to adenomyosis and hyperplasia on May 22. Everything seemed to go wonderfully for about a week before I began symptoms of fever, chills, etc. After my trip to the ER and a subsequent five day stay at the hospital I was treated for an abscess with high doses of antibiotics and bag drainage that I had to come home with for a few more days. I am currently on Levaquin and a second antibiotic for another week. I too have concerns of the abscess returning. Is this something that occured in the hospital during surgery? I have a couple of other girlfriends that have also had a hysterectomy with a piece of cake outcome. I'm really frustrated with how this whole thing has turned out, and unfortunately the abscess has set me back yet another two weeks of recovery atleast. I am a busy mother of three kids and just want to be myself again. I was told that after the surgery I would feel like a new woman!
